Having More Fun with Fashion: What Not to Not Wear When You’re Reinventing Yourself
Reading this book is convincing me that color = joy. As a recovering Chromophobe, I’m slowly feeling more comfortable ditching the hum drum neutrals and getting wild with new HUES! I’m revamping my stay-at-home mom uniform and upping the fun factor. StyleLikeU, a platform that explores personal style as an expression of self-acceptance and power (and also some other amazingly radical things that you’ll wanna get into, mom), is reinforcing this impulse to get free with fashion. SLU shares videos on a range of topics, with a range of celebs and “normal” people mostly discussing what getting dressed means for them. And lemme tell you, they are WONDERFUL (highly recommend “Maybe I’m Not “Fuckable”... That’s Fine, I’m not for you to Fuck.”, and “A Beaten Body Can’t Steal Your Soul: Renee Gunther”)
In their most-recent vid, SLU featured the ultimate fashion rule-maker of my youth, Stacy London, of What Not to Wear (aka “no mini-skirts after 35,” etc, etc). Nearly 50, she is throwing caution to the wind and giving zero friggs what you think!
It’s so exciting to watch:
There’s all sorts of good stuff to grab from this clip, ESPECIALLY the bits about aging. But, here’s the part I like best...
“Everybody should be able to accept new versions of themselves.”
Ok, Stacy London, I’m gonna give it a go.
Cheers to transformations! To sparkles, big sleeves, bold color, and BLISS!
Happy Tuesday, Mom!
