Coupla Mom Links: "Women are the same as humans."

Hey. It’s a gloomy Tuesday, Mom! And I’m in a funk.

Everywhere, the world seems teeming with tragedy, oppression, and anxiety. And it’s old news that women have it the worst. Like, always and (ugh, feels like) forever.

On point, here are some hookups to more bummer stuff that doesn’t wanna budge:

Division of labor in the home is one of the most important gender-equity issues of our time. Yet at the current rate of change, MenCare, a group that promotes equal involvement in caregiving, estimates that it will be about 75 more years before men worldwide assume half of the unpaid work that domesticity requires.

It’s “medically dangerous” to separate a breast-feeding baby from a mom, Julia Belluz writes, citing the oxytocin reflex, the strength of a baby’s latch, and the risks of excruciating mastitis in the mother that can result if a baby suddenly stops nursing. It’s also unethical, torturous, and cruel.

Black mothers advocate for our children everywhere, from the playground to the schoolhouse to the doctor’s office. Activism is woven into the fabric of our daily lives, and it doesn’t take long before we see the systemic reasons we’re constantly waging these campaigns on behalf of our own children and families. That’s when we start connecting the dots between our struggles and others’ and, as Brooks puts it, start living for the we.

Favorite line…

I don’t know if y’all heard but women are the same as humans.
— Leslie Jones on SNL

Good grief!!

I know it’s getting to you but…

Stay Cool, Mom.

P.S. The Yellowhammer Fund provides resources to “humans” seeking safe abortions in the state of Alabama (or wherever the hell they have to go).
