Calm & Cool Instrumental Tunes for Recurrent Freak Outs

Calm & Cool Instrumental Tunes for Recurrent Freak Outs

I, for one, screamed at my child this morning.

It was the usual suspects... breakfast, winter boots, backpacks.  On the way back from school drop-off, post gasket-blow, I was reminded of some beautiful moments I’d had (sans-children) last Saturday, listening to Marisa Anderson and Mary Lattimore, at Pitchfork Midwinter, a music festival inside the Art Institute.  I didn’t see any big name bands but I did get to experience LOTS of loveliness touring the museum in the quiet darkness.  Plus, in the Great Hall there was this marvelous music...

That’s Marisa Anderson, from her album Cloud Corner, 2018.

And then Mary Lattimore was there too.

That’s her Hundreds of Days album, from 2018.  Isn’t it heaven?

...and so now my new morning strategy is to demand Alexa blast something like this ⬆️ (until she invariably gets interrupted with appeals for AC/DC (thanks for introducing this to our kids, husband!)) in the hopes that I’ll be returned to that mental happy place, where adults gathered freely and finished hushed sentences... nary a stroller in sight.

Stay Cool, Mom.  It’s rough sometimes.
