The Friday Five: Special Fashion Edition, September 7, 2018

In honor of NYTimes Fashion week, this Friday Five is geared towards what’s good in clothing and conversations about clothing.  Have at it, mom.

1.  Sezane & Reformation just launched beautiful fall lines this week.

From Sezane’s fall 2018 collection.  Mom, you know I dig those pinks and browns .   2.   The Gender Divide in Preschoolers Closets (via NYTimes).  How clothing companies shape what we believe about young girls. “ I eventually realized that, even in an age of female fighter pilots and #MeToo, boys’ clothes are largely designed to be practical, while girls’ are designed to be pretty. Now when I shop for Lia, I hit the boys’ section first. It’s not just about avoiding skinned knees, but also the subtle and discouraging message that’s woven right into girls’ garments: you are dressed to decorate, not to do. “ Reminded me of my sister’s essay Dressing My Daughter, Dressing Myself , from last year on SCM. 3.  Speaking of kiddie clothes, how much do you love this collab ?

Veja makes the best sustainable sneaks.

Oliver Jeffers writes and illustrates the the best children’s books.  My fave= Here We Are (watch a great short vid on Jeffers and his books and art here).

4.  Nike’s ad campaign in support of Colin Kaepernick is being called “commodity activism.”  (Via Vox)

I don’t care about football or Nike but #IMWITHKAP forever and ever.  Amen.

5.  FINALLY (my god!) FINALLY somebody investigated what’s going on with The Bieb’s style lately.  (Via Man Repeller)

Confession:  I’m into it.
