The Friday Five: September 14, 2018

Quick hi and bye today, mom!

Here’s some good stuff that happened around here this week:

1.  A great profile on Maya Rudolph.  The cover made me do a double-take- check out how they made it.

Can’t wait to watch “Forever,” which premieres on Amazon today!  Watch the trailer here.

3.  John Legend became the first black man to achieve “EGOT” (He’s won Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards) status after winning and Emmy this week for his leading role in Jesus Christ Superstar, the live TV version.

A cute vid and some “light roasting” by wife and social media goddess Chrissy Teigen here.  (Buzzfeed)

4.  Loved the latest Queery (comic Cameron Esposito interviews queer folks) podcast with Tig Notaro.  Speaking of, have you seen her most recent Netflix special, Happy to Be Here?

5.   The Brooklyn Museum opens Soul of a Nation:  Art in the Age of Black Power today.  This traveling exhibit first opened at the Tate Modern last year to rave reviews.

It features some real big deal artists, like Faith Ringgold, Betye Saar, and, one of my all time fave photographers, Roy De Carava, who shot the cover pic up there.   Hoping this great show makes its way to Chitown sometime soon.

Stay Cool.
