Back to sCOOL Mom: Home Room Haiku

Objective:  Be Cool in School

Lesson #2: Easy Freshman English

Our apartment is chaos.  We’ve got crap every which where.  I saw this home tour the other day and felt sick to my stomach with envy.

I decided to turn my rage into poetry, natch.  AND since we’re counting down to school days, here’s a quick review of a simple form you’ve been doing since 6th grade, the Haiku:

Haikus are Japanese.  They have 3 lines.  The first line is 5 syllables, the second line is 7 syllables, the third line is 5 syllables.

For example:

Haiku for Love-Hating Lena Corwin’s Minimalist Dream Home

By Cathleen

You’ve got two boys, huh?

Cream rug with no stains?  Sure.  And

Where’s the Star Wars shit?!

Simple. Japanese. Poetry.  Any questions?

Ok.   Moving on.

Oh, wait.  Homework!

Homework:   Read my favorite poem since 6th grade n’ other reflections on rhymes.
