The Friday Five: May 11, 2018

Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful women out there!  Whether you’re a mom of humans, dogs, or a bunch of succulents, chances are you do a whole lot of nurturing.  And the world needs your tenderness.

Quick, check out what what’s cool this week!

1.  The best dressed at the MET gala.  This year’s theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” (Vogue)

2. Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) performed “This is America,” on Saturday Night Live and then released the video, which has everybody talking.

Here’s VICE and Vulture weighing in.

3.  In other hot topics, lit geeks are REAL excited about Chicago author Julia Fine’s first novel, What Should Be Wild.  They say it’s right up your alley if you liked Swamplandia! And The Tiger’s Wife.

5.  A beautiful Modern Love about wanting and finding a mother.

P.S. The cover photo is MY cool mom doing what she does so effortlessly and with so much “joy,” which is, not-surprisingly, her favorite word.   She’s a real positive force.

Luv you, Mom.

And you, too, mom.
