The Friday Five: April 13, 2018
Hey hey! It’s Friday!
I had some real tame fun in Vegas with my husband last weekend. That city is stranger than I even imagined. To be fair, we didn’t venture too far off The Strip and I’m, like, old and pregnant, so, maybe that clouded my judgment. But, who cares when your hotel is a mini-city with a heated pool and never-ending sun?! I read this good book (thanks Alisa!) and drank about twenty virgin Pina Coladas. It was perfect.
Anyways, here’s some cool cultural stuff you might wanna check, mom!
1. April 10th was Equal Pay Day, “the date the average woman in America would need to work until in 2018 in order to earn what men were paid in 2017... For African-American women, Equal Pay Day this year will come on August 7. For Hispanic women, it will come November 1.” (Vox)
Here’s Mona Chalabi’s visual take...
3. Lovin’ the design of these new Penguin Modern Classics.
My sisters gave me a beautiful Classics collection as a wedding gift. And now I’m a REAL nerd for them (as mentioned here). I give my sister one of these every Christmas and my niece one of these every birthday..
4. Modern Love is 13 years old. The NYTimes asked readers to submit 13-word “haiku-like” love stories.
5. Some spring things to like...
30 floral dresses (via Mother Mag)
30 straw bags (via Who What Wear)
Mom... Live your best life this weekend.
See you Monday!!
