Friday Five: Feb. 23, 2018

Hello!

One more week in the books, mom.  Here’s some cool stuff you might like:

1.  I’m not real big into quotes but there were some great ones on the internet this week from bday girl Nina Simone.  I loved these (posted by artist Toyin Ojih Odutola)

2.  The best white sneakers.  I’ve got these and these already (I blame my dad for fostering this addiction) and I wouldn’t mind adding these

or these to my rotation.

3.  I don’t know about you but I could really go for some “me time” in this place.

Ellsworth Kelly designed this structure for UT-Austin’s Blanton Museum of Art over 30 years ago.  It’s finally complete and opens to the public this month.

Watch a beautiful video about it here.

4.   Have you seen Black Panther?  Everything about the design of the film was very intentional, particularly, the costumes.  Costume designer Ruth Carter shares the inspiration behind her work in this piece for Shondaland.  The premiere was full of great fashion.  I loved these two looks.

5.  My amazing grandma, Marie, passed away last week.  She was one month shy of 100.

Hearing this Story Corps (from couple John Banvard, 100, and Jerry Nadeau, 72) made me melt.

This was our wonderful, adventurous, 99 year-old, “Mutti.”

 Love you, Mutt.
