Fashion Friday: Throwing Shade with Cool Mom Hats
Sunburns be damned!
This pale, freckly mom is getting serious about sun protection. SERIOUSLY, I don't want to die of skin cancer. And I've got that kinda skin- but, blah blah blah, everyone can get it, blah blah blah. Skin cancer is the top predator and I'm the runt of the littler, the unfittest. I've got the scars to prove it.
Well, this spring, my son broke my sunglasses for the umpteenth time and I was hauling my (and his, now that I think of it) tourist behind all over New Orleans. So, I got a hat. And I'm like, Yeah! I LIKE this. I can DO this. I can slather on my generic Aveeno sunscreen and spend the day in the shade! No sun headaches, no squinting, no bad hair days.
I thought I'd spread the love and give you some hot hat recs! I made 3 categories of hats I think are pretty fresh these days.
1. Baseball/"Dad" hat- "So uncool, it's cool." Check out how Miroslava Duma styles hers. My friend, Maureen wears a trucker hat every day and she looks like SUCH a cool mom.
2. Straw hats: Breezy. Nuff said.
Mango has some great options in the straw hat category.
3. Felt hats: Not breezy. But these'll keep throwing shade all fall!
Goorin Brothers has been in the business for a long time and makes beautiful felt hats.
Alright, mom! Stay cool in the shade and don't let anybody block. your. shine.
