Megan's Not-So-Corporate Lawyer Capsule
As requested, a work capsule for all you business moms out there!
My super smart and cool cousin Megan manages estates on behalf of a big bank. She spends her days shuttling between the bank, clients' homes, and court. Since the dress codes vary, depending on location, Megan errs on the conservative side most days. That said, she's made a conscious choice not to wear suits, which she says feel just plain boring. She'd rather buy separates and mix them up to make her clothes reflect her personality.
Megan's been doing the minimal closet thing (33 items for 3 months) for over a year but she still found herself staring at her closet each morning, not knowing what to put together. After reading this post, she decided she wanted to try a work capsule.
We talked about her favorite pieces, ones that are both versatile and flattering. We shot for 6, but decided on a mere 5! Check them out:
Good ones, right? Megan has a great mix of expensive, high-quality stuff and cheaper, trendy accessories. We came up with a few outfits that combined her 5 staples and some other fun additions. She's been wearing them and feeling super cool.
Here she is an all her glory!
Wardrobe advice from Megan; "Invest in an expensive pair of black pants. Mine were $300 but so worth it. I bought them a year ago, wear them two times a week, and they still look great."
Dang! Don't you want Megan managing your "estate"?!
Just in case you missed them... more work capsule posts here:
Thanks, Megan, for being a good sport and showing me your best jazz hands.
Have a great weekend!
