Georgia O'Keeffe, her Abiquiu home and studio
Happy Birthday to immortal genius Georgia O'Keeffe!
A friend passed along these beautiful photographs of her Abiquiu home (via Arch Digest) a while back and I can't get them out of my head.
In so many ways, her home looks like her paintings (or maybe her paintings look like her home?) It's bright, minimal, and draws from nature, with little trinkets from the desert landscape scattered about.
I just wanna jump right in and stay a while.
Her kitchen is what dreams are made of.
Her pantry is filled with evidence of her culinary interests.
Gosh, these little facts are so much fun! Georgia loved borscht! (Also, BTW, I just read that yogurt-incubators are all the rage right now! I don't give a hoot about yogurt, but if you do, snag one for $29.99 here.)
Here's a little background info on the property:
Hoping to escape her hectic New York life, O'Keeffe moved to New Mexico to live at the famous "Ghost Ranch" in 1935. Ten years later, apparently in need of a proper garden, O'Keeffe bought a home in Abiquiu, New Mexico, not too far from the Ranch.
She spent the bulk of the next 40 years at this residence.
