I'm Following: Mona Chalabi, super cool data sketcher
Thank you, Mona Chalabi, for making statistics cool.
Have you SEEN her data sketches? I just saw this one and I can't stop scrolling through her Instagram for more.
Mona Chalabi is a data editor at Guardian US. She looks at and analyzes statistics all day.
This seems not fun to me.
But, here's the cool part-----> she turns these numbers into hand-drawn infographics, which are funny, surprising, thoughtful, and easy-to-read!!!!
They range from political....
To potentially useful...
To just plain peculiar...
Chalabi's obsessed with "good data." She says we're increasingly skeptical of statistics because there's so much bad data out there. In this TED Talk, she discusses why statistics are really important in making society more equitable for everyone. She also shares 3 ways to spot bad statistics. Definitely worth the watch.
Also, this New York Times opinion piece she wrote is all about the time women spend not being single and having wild and crazy party times (I married a younger man, so I don't think I qualify for the 2.3 bonus years, darn!). Really got me craving a cocktail.
Which are your favorite? Can you find the one about cervical dilation? Makes me feel like a real hero.
